Legendary actor Dilip Kumar took his last breath at a Hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday (July 7) morning at the age of 98. Last week, the actor was admitted to Mumbai’s Hinduja Hospital after complaining of breathlessness. Today, Kumar’s family friend, Faisal Farooqui confirmed the news of Dilip Kumar’s death. The burial will take place at Juhu Cemetery today evening at 5:00 PM.
According to the reports, Dilip Kumar had advanced prostate cancer that had spread in other organs of his body. As per a report in Indian Express, a hospital doctor said, “He had water in the pleural cavity, and he suffered kidney failure. He required blood transfusion multiple times. We carried out the last transfusion but it did not help”.
The doctor further added, “The fluids accumulated in the pleural cavity had to be removed several times,” adding, “The cancer spread made it difficult to treat him.” His blood pressure and haemoglobin dropped towards the end.
A senior doctor at PD Hinduja Hospital at Khar said that the actor was treated at his residence by a team of 10 persons and there was also a mini-ICU set-up. The actor used to go to the hospital for blood transfusion when he complained of breathlessness and dialysis.
On June 6, the 98-year-old actor was hospitalized after he had complained of breathlessness. He was diagnosed with bilateral pleural effusion and he underwent a successful pleural aspiration procedure. He was discharged on June 11 after the fluid was removed from his lungs. Later, on June 30, he was again admitted to the hospital after he complained of breathlessness.
May his soul rest in peace and we offer our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
