Dilip Kumar breathed his last on Wednesday (July 7). The 98-year-old actor died after a prolonged illness. Sharing the sad news of the actor’s demise, his family friend Faisal Farooqui tweeted, “With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, few minutes ago. We are from God and to Him we return.” The veteran actor was suffering from various age-related ailments.
The news of Dilip Kumar’s death has left the entire film industry shattered. Condolences started pouring in from all over the world. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Union defense minister Rajnath Singh and several other dignitaries took to their Twitter handles to pay tribute to the Mughal-E-Azam actor.
Expressing his sorrow, PM Narendra Modi tweeted, “Dilip Kumar Ji will be remembered as a cinematic legend. He was blessed with unparalleled brilliance, due to which audiences across generations were enthralled. His passing away is a loss to our cultural world. Condolences to his family, friends and innumerable admirers. RIP.”

Union defence minister Rajnath Singh also mourned the iconic actor’s demise. “Shri Dilip Kumar ji was an outstanding actor, a true thespian who was well regarded by everyone for his exemplary contribution to the Indian film industry. His performances in films like Ganga Jamuna touched a chord in millions of cinegoers. I’m Deeply anguished by his demise,” he tweeted.
