Hindi cinema today lost a gem with Dilip Kumar, who was the face of realistic films. He left for the heavenly abode on Wednesday morning. He was at Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai where he breathed his last. Wife Saira Banu was snapped outside the hospital in a shattered stage as the mortal remains of Dilip Kumar were being brought home for last tributes. Dilip Kumar’s mortal remains will be buried in the evening, as confirmed by family friend Faisal Farooqui. As we remember the Tragedy King of Bollywood, one can never forget the special connection he had with another King of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan. SRK’s undeniable love for Dilip Saab is well known.
He even visited Dilip Saab a few years back when he was really unwell. Wife Saira Banu has always felt that both Dilip Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan had a lot of similarities. She had even said that if they had a kid, it would look like SRK. Not just that, Shah Rukh Khan’s fondness and love for Dilip Saab is not unknown. At the launch of Nasreen Munni Kabir’s book The Dialogue of Devdas, Shah Rukh Khan had said that whoever copies or tries to copy Dilip Saab is an ‘idiot’. Dilip Kumar as Devdas continues to be legendary.

In 2012, SRK had said, “You can’t imitate Mr. Dilip Kumar. Whoever copies Dilip Kumar, they are idiots like me.” He also mentioned feeling stupid to have done Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas, which was a big-screen adaption of Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel. “I am not someone who would like to do something which has been so beautifully crafted. I have a very deep regard for the fact that my parents loved Devdas. I was very young and stupid that I said yes and did it, but as I am getting mature, hopefully, more intelligent, and perhaps would not be able to do it this time,” Khan had shared.
Among others, Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn have paid their tributes to the legendary actor.
