WHAT! Diljit Dosanjh gets Cheap Thrills singer Sia to sing in Punjabi for Hass Hass

Diljit Dosanjh surely does know how to take his Punjabi flavour internationally. First he made the renowned rapper Diplo try ‘laddoos’ at Coachella. Then, he sparked dating rumours with singer Taylor Swift. And now, Diljit Dosanjh made renowned singer Sia try a little Punjabi as well in their maiden collaboration.

Diljit Dosanjh releases song with Sia titled Hass Hass

On Thursday, Diljit released his first collaboration with Sia titled Hass Hass. While the team up in itself is exciting, what makes it better is that Sia has sung in Punjabi in the song. The Australian singer is known for her singles like Chandelier, Cheap Thrills and Unstoppable, amongst others. To hear her sing a verse in Punjabi was a total and pleasant surprise. Diljit has indeed brought some Indian flavour in another international artist’s life.

As for the song, it is a love ballad with Diljit crooning the Punjabi verses while Sia singing the English chorus. Towards the end, both the singers sing a verse together in Punjabi. Diljit describes the song as ‘An anthem of love, joy, and uniting people across the world through the universal language of music’. The music video sees the Indian talent on the road, who takes a lift from a beautiful woman. The stunning visuals have the setting of a beach, the open road as well as an abandoned factory.

Talking about her experinec of recording the song in Punjabi, Sia said, “Hass Hass was made with so much love, I left in a completely saturated dress! Speaking Punjabi is much harder than you think. I sweated through my entire dress, trying so hard to get it right. I had to ask them to stop taking photos. I was completely drenched by the time I nailed it!.

Diljit Dosanjh upcoming films

Diljit manages his acting and singing career together quite effectively. He is making some big strides in music with such international collaborations. On the acting front, he recently announced a Punjabi film with his Honsla Rakh actresses Shehnaaz Gill and Sonam Bajwa, titled Ranna Ch Dhanna. In Hindi too, he has The Crew with Kareena Kapoor, Tabu and Kriti Sanon. He will also be seen in Imtiaz Ali’s Amar Singh Chamkila biopic with Parineeti Chopra.
