It’s just been two days since release and Dilwale has stormed the box office charts internationally. Red Chillies Entertainments Pvt Ltd announces the first day overseas collection of the film was $3.4 million. Dilwale has met with tremendous response not only in India but key international markets, even going past benchmarks set by SRK’s earlier films in some places. The Rohit Shetty directorial which brings back the iconic pairing of SRK-Kajol after a long time has registered biggest ever opening for any Bollywood film in UAE and is running to packed housed over the weekend. What’s even bigger is Dilwale has raced ahead of Star Wars, which released this week in Dubai and is credited as one of the most popular Hollywood franchises ever. Similar response has been echoed in UK, US and other parts of the world. The much celebrated family entertainer has become 2015’s biggest ever opener for Bollywood films in UK. It has entered the UK Top 10 Box Office Charts at No 2 position, a feat rarely achieved by Hindi films. US has also welcomed the movie with open arms. People have poured in large numbers to watch SRK-Kajol reunite on screen adding to it some much needed doze of comedy and action. Despite Star Wars, one of their own popular franchises releasing this week, Dilwale has fetched better returns and secured the 9th position in the US box office charts.
With Dilwale as well, Shah Rukh Khan looks to break and make for newer records. In Malaysia, Dilwale has registered the biggest ever opening for any Hindi film leaving behind all its counterparts. The country whose love for SRK remains unchanged, the Malaysians have showered Dilwale with extreme admiration and the buzz is just set to grow. Similar fortunes have met Dilwale in Australia where the film has not only become the biggest opener of 2015, but also the biggest ever for SRK starrers. Even New Zealand which is slowly emerging as a market for Bollywood, has shown steady results for Dilwale. The film has already secured the No 2 spot in box office charts and looks to continue the glorious run.
