Baazigar Directors Abbas-Mustan reveal composers Nadeem-Shravan wanted Kajol OUT of Shah Rukh Khan starrer

Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Shilpa Shetty starrer 1993 release Baazigar turned out to be a huge hit. Apart from the storyline and actor’s performance, the romantic thriller garnered praise for its music album composed by Anu Malik. Some of the popular tracks include Baazigar O Baazigar, Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhein, Kitabein Bahut Si, and Chhupana Bhi Nahi Aata. However, did you know before Anu Malik, the popular duo Nadeem-Shravan was supposed to work on Baazigar’s music? However, the didn’t work on the film and the reason was Kajol.

Abbas-Mustan reveal Nadeem-Shrawan wanted Kajol out of Baazigar

Abbas-Mustan first offered Nadeem-Shravan to compose music for Baazigar. In a recent interview, the director duo revealed that Nadeem-Shravan had asked them to remove Kajol from the film. He recalled, “Nadeem-Shravan has some personal issue with Kajol and Tanuja ji. They asked us if we can change the female lead. We refused because we had already committed to her. Also, we had finalised Kajol and she had also signed the contract. We refused to make any changes. Picture banege toh Kajol toh rahege he (If the film will be made, Kajol will star in it). They responded to this by saying, ‘Toh hum nahi rahege (Then we will not do the film)”.

Why Nadeem-Shravan had issue with Kajol and Tanuja?

As per a report in The Indian Express, Nadeem-Shravan desired to mentor Kajol following the success of her 1992 debut film, Bekhudi. They had composed the music for it. But when they visited her home, they were shocked by her and veteran actor Tanuja’s actions. They then decided to never collaborate with Kajol once more.

On the professional front, Kajol will be next seen in Do Patti. It is directed by Shashanka Chaturvedi and stars Kriti Sanon in the lead role. She will also be seen in Sarzameen alongside Ibrahim Ali Khan.
