Do you know what made Rajkumar Hirani make a biopic on Sanjay Dutt?

Sanjay Dutt undoubtedly has one of the most eventful lives. With rises and falls, twists and turns, it sure called for an interesting depiction on celluloid. Prolific filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani embraced the idea!

But do you know how and why Hirani went on to make Dutt’s biopic? That is another interesting story in itself.

Hirani and Dutt have shared many deep and intense conversations in past. They would often interest the former so much, that he started recording them.

After some 25 days of such conversations, Hirani was left with a recording as long as 200 hours! Dutt’s life story left him amused, intrigued. A person like him who keeps looking for extraordinary stories out of the straw of ordinary life, couldn’t leave this opportunity. He started working on the script and later visited Dutt with a draft of it.

The script was locked only after Dutt gave his nod and was assured that he wouldn’t be unnecessarily glorified. He roped in Ranbir Kapoor to play the titular role while Sonam Kapoor and Anushka Sharma were brought on board to play two more pivotal characters.

The film has hit the floors yesterday (14th of January). Keeping our fingers crossed for a quick release!
