Opening higher than 2019’s film despite tough competition
Dream Girl 2 has recorded an opening higher than 2019 Dream Girl which starred Ayushmann and Nushrratt in lead roles. Dream Girl was released before the pandemic and witnessed a clash with Akshay Khanna and Richa Chadha’s Article 375. It minted Rs 10.05 crore on its opening day. While Dream Girl 2 had a stand-alone release, it faced tough competition with Gadar 2. Despite this, it earned Rs 10.69 crore.

The eighth biggest opener of 2023
Ayushmann’s comic caper has trumped Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 and emerged as the 8th biggest opener of 2023. It minted 10.69 crore on Day 1. It comes after Pathaan (57 cr), Gadar 2 (Rs 40.10 crore), Adipurush (Rs 36 crore), Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (Rs 15.73crore), Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (Rs 15.81 crore), Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (Rs 11.10 crore) and Bholaa (Rs 11.20 crore).
Eighth highest opening weekend grosser of 2023
With the collection of Rs 40.71 crore, Dream Girl 2 has become the eighth-highest opening weekend grosser of the year after Pathaan (Rs 280.75 crore), Gadar 2 (134.88 crore), Adipurush (103 crore), KKBKKJ (Rs 68.17 crore), TJMM (Rs 70.64 crore) and RRKPK (Rs 45.90 crore), and OMG 2 (43.11 crore).
Ayushmann Khurrana’s biggest opener
So far, the social comedy-drama Bala was Ayushmann’s highest opener. It collected Rs 10.15 cr on opening day. But with the aforementioned collection, the comic caper has now attained that position.
Ananya Panday’s 2 biggest opener
Ananya forayed into Bollywood with Student Of The Year 2 in 2019. The film earned 12.06 cr on Day 1 while Dream Girl 2 raked in 10.69 crore. Interesting SOTY 2 was also a sequel and even the comic caper is one.
