Dulquer Salmaan is already a star in the Malayalam industry! And now, the heartthrob is going to make his debut in Bollywood with ‘Karwaan’ which also stars Irrfan Khan and Mithila Palkar. Since Irrfan is in London for his cancer treatment, Dulquer and Mithila are the only two, who are going around promoting the film.
Salmaan definitely feels Irrfan’s absence from the promotions. In an interview with Rajeev Masand, he said, “Sadly, when I’m promoting (Karwaan), now without him, it almost seems like just me and Mithila, it’s a small film with two youngsters. If he was there then it would be what the movie was to be.”
The ‘OK Kanmani’ actor revealed that Irrfan Khan was one of the reasons, he signed ‘Karwaan‘. “I have had a lot of discussions and some movies have not happen for whatever reasons. But something about this (‘Karwaan’) struck a chord instantly and I loved the fact that Ronnie (Screwvala) was producing it and Irrfan Sir was a part of it. And it’s very my kind of film, slice of life film,” he said.
The actor was all praises for Irrfan Khan, “I loved the fact that it was Irrfan Sir playing Shaukat and he had a certain quirk. I don’t see it like me trying to come and conquer something (Bollywood/Hindi film industry). It’s like I got an opportunity and I’m getting to be a part of a film. And with someone like Irrfan Sir in the film, I feel like everybody will watch it, I’ll also be seen. So, I don’t think it’s on me,” he said.
Produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s creative production house ‘RSVP’ in association with ‘Ishka films’, ‘Karwaan’ is directed by Akarsh Khurana and will release on August 3, 2018.
