The upcoming Vishal Bhardwaj movie ‘Rangoon‘ that stars three talented actors, Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut is all set to release on February 24, 2017. But, the movie will not be screened with its originally intended duration of almost three hours, as the makers have shortened the movie by almost 40 minutes, just before the release. The movie was originally two hours and forty seven minutes long, but the makers have brought it down to two hours and seven minutes.
Reportedly, director Vishal Bhardwaj and producers Sajid Nadiadwala and Viacom 18 mutually decided to reduce the duration to conform to the likes of the current generation who would not be interested in watching a long movie. So, to make their viewing experience more comfortable, the makers came up with this solution.
A source close to a popular daily said, “Everyone in the team feels that ‘Rangoon’ has turned out to be very special. But at nearly three hours of playing time, the film was seen to be too long for today’s generation. Vishal and his producers Sajid Nadiadwala and Viacom 18 have voluntarily decided to bring the length down by more than half an hour.”
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has granted the movie a U/A certificate with a demand to delete three cuss words that have been altered to ‘Bakchor’, ‘Rascal’ and ‘Jhoothi’.
The movie which is based on the World War II will be releasing on February 24, 2017.
