With his forthcoming film ‘Captain Nawab’, Emraan Hashmi turns a producer. But before that, we get to see him in Ajay Devgn-starrer ‘Baadshaho’. For quite some time, Emraan has appeared in back to back erotic thrillers; ‘Raaz’ and ‘Murder’ franchise to mention especially.
However, ‘Raaz Reboot’, the fourth edition of ‘Raaz’ franchise proved to be a dud at the box office. In a recent conversation with a leading newspaper, Hashmi said he wouldn’t be a part of these franchises anymore.
“Yes, I have kissed those franchises goodbye, but I thank those films for helping me get this far,” he said. (Also Read: Emraan Hashmi makes a strong confession on nepotism and we are proud of him)
A part of the audience has categorically accused Hashmi’s films of objectifying women; especially since most of them having women exposing their bodies to a great deal.
“Women were objectified? I was also objectified in those films. It’s just the zone you are grappling with. After films like ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaii’, I could have chosen big-budget, hero-driven films, but I opted for ‘The Dirty Picture’, which was woman-centric. As an actor, I don’t see women as objects; they have always been central to the plot in all my films. Heroines are shining in the films being driven by them today. I am not among those male actors who feel insecure about women-centric films,” the actor answered, when he quizzed about it.
‘Baadshaho’ features him alongside Ajay devgn, Vidyut Jammwal, Esha Gupta and Ileana D’Cruz, and will release on 1st September.
