Emraan Hashmi and Mallika Sherawat were one of the sizzling on-screen pairs in the early 2000s. The two were seen together in the 2004 film, Murder. The duo has been at loggerheads since they were shooting for the film. However, two decades later they were seen burying the hatchet and sharing a warm hug at Anand Pandit’s daughter reception party. Now, looks like Emraan is ready to work with her after reconciliation.
Emraan Hashmi on reuniting with Mallika Sherawat on-screen
In an interview with News18, Emraan opens up on meeting Mallika at Anand Pandit’s daughter reception. “It was very warm and cordial. I saw her after a very long time. I don’t think we had an encounter like in a long time. I had her a couple of times after the release of Murder,” he says.
He went on to even address their fallout and attributed it to the impulsiveness of youth. “We were young and stupid at that time. You go through a phase in your life when your decision making power is so limited that and you’re just so impulsive. Some mean things were said by her and some by me. But those are all bygones,” he states.
The viral video led many of their fans to wish for a film with the two of them. Emraan too hopes to share screen space with Mallika soon. “We kept all of that aside. It was long back. It was very nice seeing and meeting her. She was very warm and so was I. She’s a co-actor I wish I could have worked again with,” he adds.
About Emraan-Mallika feud
Reports about all not being well between the actors surfaced during the promotion of Murder in 2004. Months after the film was out, Emraan and Mahesh Bhatt graced the Koffee With Karan couch. When he was asked about the ‘worst kisser’ among his co-stars, Emraan cheekily mentioned Mallika. Further, when he was asked to name something one would find in her bedroom, he said, ‘An idiot’s handbook to succeed in Hollywood’. Later, she hit back at him saying that the snake she kissed in Hisss was a better kisser than Emraan.
During a 2021 interview, Mallika opened up about the feud and called her fight with Emraan “childish”, She said, “The funniest was with Emraan Hashmi after or during Murder. We didn’t speak and now I think it was so childish. It was after the film I think during promotions or something we had a misunderstanding. It was so uncalled for and so childish on my part also”.
However, looks like they have let all the water under the bridge and we just can’t wait to see them reuniting on-screen.
