EXCLUSIVE: Anil Kapoor opens up on dealing with Sridevi’s death

Anil Kapoor is one of the few superstars who have made a successful career across generations of actors. For over four decades, the actor has been ruling over the big screen and his generosity and authenticity, along with his energy, is what makes him stand out from the crowd and makes him one of the most loved stars across the country.

In the latest episode of His Story by Bollywood Bubble, the actor opened up about some deep personal stories from his life. Known for his positive outlook towards life, Anil revealed that it is indeed his father who made him this way. He said, “I think it’s my dad. No matter how tired or exhausted he was, any guest or any person, he was always nice to people, he was always generous, he would always go up to the car or go up to the door to drop them and I think that also comes very automatically to me. I think somewhere it’s a legacy from my father who was a gentleman, who was innocent, was naïve, generous, very giving and loved by everybody.”

And truly Anil has carried on that legacy quite well and has even instilled those same values in his kids Sonam Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor and Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor. With him being so close to his father, his demise must be a difficult time for him, but taking the cue from how his father led his life, the actor chooses to celebrate him. He insisted, “To be honest with you, my dad lived a beautiful life and I think he had a great fulfilled life. He was very happy, he went for a walk and came back, untied his laces and he just left us without really (any issues). So I’m very happy about that and we think about all the good things and celebrate him. We miss him only with positivity and laughter, with his jokes and his humour and when I go and meet anybody from any walk of life, in this industry especially, they have only great things to speak about him, so that makes me feel happy.”

However, while his dad led a fulfilled life, in a close knit family like his, Anil Kapoor did see an untimely death with his sister-in-law Sridevi passing away at the age of 54. Her death became a national affair and it was indeed a tough time for the whole Kapoor family. Even Arjun Kapoor had mentioned that it was Anil Kapoor who helped keep everyone together at that time and was a pillar of support for the family while dealing with the demise of Sridevi. But Anil gave the credit for that to his wife Sunita Kapoor. He asserted, “I think it was more my wife. I think I get credit for it but it’s her who got everybody together. My mom is there of course but it’s Sunita who keeps everybody together here.”

As great of an actor Anil is, he is also an amazing man off screen, a beautiful human being and a dutiful family man. And these stories just reestablish that fact.
