EXCLUSIVE: Anurag Kashyap on daughter Aaliyah Kashyap: I worry about her mental health

Ace filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is currently gearing up for the release of Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat. The movie features Alaya F, Karan Mehta and Vicky Kaushal. Anurag Kashyap’s daughter Aaliyah Kashyap has also contributed to the movie. The filmmaker shares a loving bond with his daughter and often worries about her like any other parent.

In an exclusive interview with us the filmmaker opened up on his daughter Aliyah Kashyap and also shared his concerns about her mental health and the scrutiny she goes through in the media.

Anurag Kashyap said, “You know this is like her mental health worries me a lot, whenever she struggles with it but no I that that is the whole point of it is like her thing is like, ‘I have a tough time explaining to you that why am I happy with being on YouTube, Why I don’t need to have a career as per your definition, of what a career should be or, why did I drop out of college and all you need to be concerned about is whether I am happy or not. I’m happy yeah and I’m self-dependent,’ and that makes me feel proud.”

He added, “I’m very happy with that, really happy that she is the person who knows. I was a person very lost compared to her when I was that age. She knows how to hold her own and she is also transparent and honest. She also doesn’t use any filters like I did.”

For the unversed, Anurag Kashyap’s daughter Aaliyah is a YouTuber and social media influencer who creates lifestyle content. She has also spoken publicly about her struggles with mental health.
