What do you have to say about your recently released song Saiyaan?
We made this song to be a fun song, so people can enjoy, people can dance, and have fun. Like, it can be played in clubs, it can be played in cars while driving. So, I think, it’s the motto of making this song.
Chitrangda Singh features in the song. She has delivered a stellar performance in the music video. Did you see someone else being a part of the song?
When I sang the song, I had this brief that Chitrangda would be in this video. So, I think, that was the big task. The sensuality, that she (Chitrangda Singh) brings on screen, which I had to deliver, in the audio itself. So that it gets easier for her. Then, video and audio both of them goes hand in hand, then it’s a perfect blend. So, I think, I did my job, of making sensuous audio. And, Chitrangda was there, so there was no doubt about it. So, I’m really happy the whole song came out really well.

Did you record the song after Chitrangda Singh came onboard or before?
I sang the Mukhada before they knew about Chitrangda. But, after the Mukhada was made, I think, then the label decided to have Chitrangda. And then, I did the Antara. It was fun actually!
From Jaan Ban Jaye to singing the song Saiyaan, which is of a different genre; How did you manage how do you feel?
I actually enjoy experimenting. I try to do romantic numbers and then full sad numbers. And then going out and out with the dance numbers. I enjoy experimenting. And I enjoy all kinds of genres. I really feel I am a different kind of a person internally. Because, I am all out in my songs. So, actors portray different characters, I portray different voices and feelings through my voice.

With the businesses and film industry getting back to normalcy, how do you see yourself in the upcoming year?
The songs have been happening because we were busy launching music. And what all the artists and singers missed that would be live concerts. And I’m really happy that will be happening this year. I’m really looking forward to a lot of concerts and a lot of film music and a lot of non-film music is also going hand in hand. So, it’s a full platter actually now.
Anything you have to say about the live shows getting affected due to the pandemic?
It’s affected the other section of the live industry. Like, people who set up the stage. Or the ones behind the scenes, handling the sound and the lights, all the spot boys in the live concert field, I think they really suffered a lot. And the musicians also suffered a lot. Because, being the singer, we get a major chunk of the show, and others are paid as per the regular norms. So, I think for those people it was really difficult. And I’m really happy that the scene has changed now and everybody is recovering now, doing shows. So, I think, now, everyone will be happy going back home with some money.
