Gehraiyaan starring Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Dhariya Karwa have gained eyeballs not just because of the ultimate casting coup but it is Deepika and Siddhant’s sizzling chemistry that captivated everyone. Apart from that, Gehraiyaan also speaks about complicated relationships between two couples and infidelity. Speaking about the latter, netizens have a mixed reaction to it as they thought the movie is promoting infidelity. Well, reacting to people’s criticism, the Gehraiyaan director of the film Shakun Batra revealed that the film is not about monogamy.
In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Shakun opened about criticism while also mentioning that he wants people to start a conversation on the same but in a welcoming way. “Here’s the thing, one- the movie is not a debate on the pros and cons of monogamy. I don’t think I am any better than the next person to understand these things and I don’t have some kind of great solution or answer on what you should feel about the idea of your relationship. If at all, we are hoping for a conversation, we are hoping that it opens a conversation but in a very welcoming, warm, and inviting way, the same way I felt about Kapoor and Sons. It was about opening a conversation about the family or how we are together as people and our flaws,” he said.
“As I said, I’m not a torchbearer, I’m not that kind of person, I am genuinely and equally curious and I want to explore things because my curiosity is taking me there. If people start a conversation or people or if people can talk about it, that would be amazing. I would be so happy with that, I’m pretty sure, I don’t think it should offend anyone we really tried to be as responsible as we can, we have not taken any great sides or tried to give an answer or statement but there will be a lot of people who will also invite this kind of conversation and for me, that is the exciting part. I’m really looking forward to that,” Shakun continued.

Adding to the same, Ananya Panday who was also a part of the conversation said, “We are not glorifying infidelity but we cannot lie that it doesn’t exist in our society.”
