Gaurav Arora has been around in the industry for a long time now. He got his entry into showbiz when he finished as the second runner-up in the Gladrags Manhunt and Megamodel Contest in 2006. He made an illustrious career in modeling after that doing numerous big print shoots and commercials and walking on the ramp for major designers. In 2016, he made a switch to acting on the big screen but it was the OTT that gave him the platform to explore his potential and give him the recognition he wanted. Last week, he had the release of his latest web show Aadha Ishq, and recently, Bollywood Bubble got into an exclusive conversation with him.

Today, Gaurav Arora is a renowned name in the modeling industry and he is slowly making a mark in the acting world as well, but for a small-town boy from Madhya Pradesh, even this was a far-fetched dream. Talking about his initial days, the model-actor recalled, “I come from a very small town in MP and I remember that for the longest time I wanted to be an actor while I was doing my schooling. But that was maybe one of those thoughts that almost everyone has that ‘I want to be an actor’. Perhaps it was that but at the back of my mind, it always stayed. In my boarding school when I was in class 5, we had those inter-dormitories competition and one teacher was appointed for every dorm. So, my dorm teacher saw me directing our play and she left saying we don’t need her and we came first. My friends ask me this even today that even though we all studied together, how come I chose to be here.”

But even though he wanted to become an actor, Gaurav chose to take the path of modeling first. When asked what prompted that, he revealed his original strategy. “When I came in Class 11 or 12 and was doing my graduation, I realised that all these models were getting into films. Arjun (Rampal), John (Abraham), Aishwarya (Rai) and Priyanka (Chopra) were coming in films, so I thought that probably this is the way I could also get into it. I saw a window of opportunity there and I came with that frame of mind. But the problem was that by the time I made a name for myself in modeling, the perception had changed. The new notion was that models can’t act and whenever I was going to meet any casting director or a director, they had this pre-conceived notion that ‘oh, you are a model… we’ll see’. So, I thought ye to problem ho gaya hai, I have to change this now. Then I started working a lot more on my craft. I did theatre, workshops and it has been a never-ending process. Even today I am learning,” Gaurav revealed.
No matter how long and what path it took for the actor to reach here, but today he is getting the love and acceptance that any actor craves for. With projects like Broken But Beautiful 2 and Asur behind him, Gaurav is scaling new heights and Aadha Ishq just adds to it.
