Filmmaker-producer Karan Johar is a proud father to two wonderful kids, twins, Yash and Roohi. He often treats the internet with the shenanigans of his twins as they raid his closet or mimic him. The filmmaker welcomed twins Yash and Roohi via surrogacy in 2017. He named his son after his late father, filmmaker Yash Johar and his daughter’s name is an anagram of his mother’s name, Hiroo Johar.
In the past few days, Karan has been gearing up for the launch of his show Koffee With Karan season 7. Ahead of the premiere of the talk show, Karan Johar sat down with us for a candid conversation and shared ‘His Story’. In an exclusive interview with us, he opened up about the time when he was told not to be a single parent. Karan revealed why.
Speaking with Bollywood Bubble, the filmmaker said, “I think, they all thought that maybe it was too much for me to handle, given my schedule. I don’t think they were saying it for societal reasons.”

He added, “But, I just knew I was ready to be a parent. I just knew I was ready to give a piece of my heart away. And which is what I have done with my two children. I think one big piece of my heart is them and one big piece of my heart is my mum. And I feel like that love quotient is satisfied.”
Karan also shared, “I was told, you can’t be a single parent. I was told, you can’t be dressing like that, you’re 50. I was told, ‘You shouldn’t host a talk show, you shouldn’t judge a reality show, nobody will take you seriously’. Maybe they don’t.”
