In an explosive and candid chat with Bollywood Bubble, B-town beauty Ileana D’Cruz opened up about varied issues like sexism prevalent in the film industry. The Barfi actress has worked with her share of ‘insecure’ actors and she revealed how she deals with such co-stars.
Sharing her experience of working with difficult actors, Ileana said, “Of course I have had difficult actors. Also, you know when you are working with people for such a long period of time you are bound to have some sort of disagreement or a different set of opinion or something. I have had a few difficult actors some of them who I feel are unreasonably difficult. And I think I am a pretty easy going person. So most of the time I don’t like to engage with people like that. And if I feel that you are being difficult I will just back off. But yeah some of them are just are really strange and just unreasonably difficult.”
Ileana also said that she feels sorry for such co-stars. Sharing why actors sometimes are being unreasonably difficult, Ileana further added, “I try to understand why they are being the way they are being. And I just come down to one thing most of the time and it is always the same. It’s just the insecurity. It’s strange and I think that’s one of the reasons why I don’t like drama because I am not insecure. If I am worried about my work it’s because I am not putting my best in. It’s not because someone is holding me back. So it’s up to me how well I can perform. So I am not insecure about my work at all. I have noticed that difficult ones (her co-stars) are the ones who are insecure. And I feel sorry for them.”

Sexism is very much prevalent in this industry, from roles being chopped to vying for better dialogues, these things are not uncommon in Bollywood. So did she ever feel insecure due to the treatment meted out to her? “Yeah, I have. I definitely have. There has been very often a very distinct sort of difference in like vans and other such things. At the beginning of my career, I have definitely faced it. But it made sense back then because I was working with established actors so I was like ‘Okay I get it.’ But now I feel like I have reached a point where if I am going to fixate on ‘Why is he getting this car. I don’t I get that car?’ It’s just going to mess with my head and mess up my work. And at the end of the day when you are watching a film, you are not going to have a subtitle at the bottom that will say, ‘Ileana was driven around in this car and he was driven around in that car’. No right? People are going to watch you and if your work suffers because of that they are going to judge your work. They are not going to judge the fact ‘Oh you know she didn’t get a nice car to drive around in.’ So I honestly have a list of things, the basic stuff, that I require when I am working. And it’s a proper sort of business deal and it’s up to a producer whether they is okay with it or not. So it’s completely negotiated and it’s no compulsion. And it’s all preplanned.”
