EXCLUSIVE: Irrfan Khan’s wife Sutapa Sikdar gets teary-eyed talking about his death: I used to go through his medical files

Irrfan Khan was one of the most loved actors in the industry. Irrfan Khan passed away after a long battle with neuroendocrine tumour on April 30, 2022. He was 53. The actor is no more but is remembered by his millions of fans around the world. Irrfan Khan’s wife and writer Sutapa Sikdar was a pillar of strength to him. Recently, we got in touch with Sutapa for Bollywood Bubble’s Her Story and she revealed all about the time she first met him, their love story, his last visit to the hospital and more. Sutapa got emotional while talking about losing him to cancer and how there were days she used to go through his medical files after his death.

Irrfan Khan’s wife Sutapa got teary-eyed as she recalled the time the late actor was responding to the cancer treatment but his health suddenly deteriorated later. She said, “He responded to the treatment so well that it was just a matter of 3-4 months and he will be fine. But then again it (health) deteriorated.” Sutapa added she believed everything will be fine.

Sutapa got emotional as she added, “I want to protect myself now. Every night, I still have the whole suitcase and I can’t let that those medical files go. Every night I would read them again and again thinking ‘Did I do something wrong?’.” She went on to add that she was with him ‘day, night and evening’.

During the conversation, Sutapa also recalled the time they got to know about the cancer. She said, “When we got to know, there were no symptoms. There were no symptoms and he was to leave for his shoot and there was slight uneasiness on his stomach and they got some tests done. They said ok and get some more tests done and tests tests tests… So it all happened within say 15 days. And in 15 days, we came to know that its advanced stage of neuroendocrine cancer.”

Sutapa and Irrfan tied the knot in 1995 and it was friendship that turned into love. They have two sons – Babil and Ayaan.
