Karan Johar has made us all believe in love with his romantic movies. His films are known for the romance and love that revolves in the plot. The filmmaker-producer is a proud single parent to his kids, Roohi and Yash Johar, whom he welcomed via surrogacy.
We sat down with Karan Johar for a candid conversation, just ahead of the premiere of the show Koffee With Karan 7. In an exclusive interview with us, the filmmaker discussed why not having a love life is one regret he will have in his life. When asked if the thought of being a parent stemmed up from the point where he does not have a partner, Johar reacted.
Karan told Bollywood Bubble, “Just because your not in a relationship doesn’t mean you should become a parent. You’ll know you want to be a parent when you’re emotionally ready. The two are not related at all. It’s not that mere zindagi mein pyaar nahi hai toh main bache le aaunga (It’s not that because I don’t have love in my life, I should have kids).”

The filmmaker added, “One cannot replace the other. The love you get from a romantic liaison is very different from the love you get as a parent. And they are very different forms of love. You have to be ready emotionally to be a parent. Because, a parent is a very selfless person.”
When he was asked if he misses having a partner, he said, “My pool of love is so complete with my mum and my kids. But, ofcourse, that one portion of your heart will always remain like there’s a vaccum. But, like they say the song Har Kisiko Nahi Milta Yaha Pyaar Zindagi Mein. It’s not that love has ever evaded me, but romance has.”
