Kiccha Sudeepa has been a renowned name in Kannada cinema and three years ago, he made a smashing debut in Hindi films with Salman Khan-starrer Dabangg 3. Recently, Kiccha Sudeepa got embroiled into a controversy when he made a statement about Hindi language which got a reaction from Ajay Devgn and resulted in a back-and-forth between the two superstars on social media. In a recent conversation with Bollywood Bubble, the actor shed some light on that whole spat.

When asked if his comments being shared in such a light bother him at all, Sudeepa said, “The only thing I ask myself is if I am legally wrong. Will I be arrested for it and put behind bars. As long as you are legally right and you haven’t done anything illegal, I don’t think it bothers me. I guess it’s a matter of how you accept it. Everybody’s memory is very short-lived, so it’s a debate for a day or two and that’s okay. We know our lifestyle and what we are into. We are not into things that should actually change your lives. When we talk, I won’t say it’s just about the media. The media has been sweet also, we cannot just say that they have been unkind to us. But there are every set of people in every profession who want to make their existence felt. When those kinds of voices raise just to pull you into the deep, don’t you think you are smart enough to understand that part? Then it’s up to you about your next decision whether you want to react or not. But I think you shouldn’t take it too much to your head. Let’s take an example of tomatoes, you can eat it or you can throw it at someone, it’s about whose hand it is in.”

On his spat with Ajay Devgn, Kiccha Sudeepa asserted, “As an actor or director, it also depends on what mood you are in that is why I said that the set of people around you are very important. They can either calm you down or work you up. I guess that day whatever Ajay Devgn tweeted, it was just he was given a wrong interpretation, that’s all that is. And that wrong interpretation led him to go to the things of tweeting in Hindi. But the luck is that I understand Hindi and I read Hindi, so I understood, otherwise I would have had to take it to someone else to tell me what it means and who knows what they would have understood and then told to me. And that would have rubbed off on me. So, I tweeted back in English so that everybody understand what I am saying.”
The actor went on to state that there is no bad blood between him and Ajay from his side. “I have an abundance of respect for the gentleman and there’s no way I could have provoked him. I understand where he is coming from. I actually stopped a war. It would have been a huge thing had I provoked a certain set of people. But I guess it is not meant to be because I understand that gentleman. It’s very important who we meet and what we do at that particular time. The first time we met, he left a very beautiful impression on me. Not that we spent some great time, but that little time tells us. One morsel of rice is enough to say if it is boiled, so that one moment is enough for me to tell he is a correct guy. He had no drama attached. So, I was very sure that it is a very wrong thing that had gone to him. I guess it’s on us now and I didn’t want to provoke him as it is not really my agenda. Whoever picked up and took it in another angle, it suited them the best,” he insisted.

For the unversed, it was at the launch of R: The Deadliest Gangster Ever that when Sudeepa was asked about a Kannada film becoming a pan-Indian hit, he had said, “You said that a pan India film was made in Kannada. I’d like to make a small correction. Hindi is no more a national language. They (Bollywood) are doing pan-India films today. They are struggling (to find success) by dubbing in Telugu and Tamil, but it’s not happening. Today, we are making films that are going everywhere.”
Responding to it, Ajay Devgn had tweeted in Hindi bashing the statement made by Kiccha Sudeepa and then the Kannada superstar had replied to it.
