You have collaborated with Jjust Music for the music of Main Te Bapu. How was your experience working with Jackky Bhagnani?

It’s great. I think, since the first day we spoke and we decided we will be doing this together. And since then, he has been the running force. He has been participating in every conversation. He has been replying to, he has been part of the whole group. Which is great. Because, that is what you expect. And when your team delivers such amazing efforts, it only makes you happy and confident.

How was the experience working with the Jjust Music team?

It was great. I have seen they have done such amazing work in the past. And the whole team was really excited. It happens generally, when you work with someone, you want them to be passionate, you want them to be put in all their efforts. From the very first day since we spoke, they were really very excited. They were coming up with the ideas during the collaboration. So, I’m really looking forward to this.

You have worked with your father in the movie. Do you have anything to share about the experience?

My father is basically an actor. So, I grew up watching him act. So, I knew that my father would play this character best. Because, the whole movie is about the character Lali manipulating his father, convincing to do stuff, he doesn’t really want to do. And, growing up, we’ve all done that; manipulating our parents. If this movie was offered to me, and the father’s character was played by someone else, I might have not done it, or done it differently. This is like organic. Parmish and his father’s relationship. But, placed in a movie scenario. So, I really feel that people sort of get that. And I hope people enjoy that.

Actor Sanjeeda Shaikh is your co-star in the movie. How was the experience working with her?

Sanjeeda is a sweetheart. She is amazing. Because, the moment Sanjeeda enters the room, she brings that positivity, fresh energy. And I think that’s great. Because, the more comfortable you’re with your co-artist, the more interesting they are in taking shots, the better you perform. So, it was lot of fun.

You turned producer with this movie, Main Te Bapu. What was the feeling, any pressures you faced?

I think, I should’ve seen it coming. That I was a director, then I became a singer, actor, and producer was the next thing to do. But, it was just when we decided that we’ll be doing a movie, it was so spontaneous. Covid restrictions happened, planning got postponed, and I was like, ‘we have this time. I’ve taken time off. We can still do a movie, just with a smaller crew’. And I was like ‘Main Te Bapu was planned in September, and might as well do that’. I was like, it’s my film, it’s my content, I believe in this. If I’m believing in this, I should be able to invest my money in it. So, I feel, it was like a family association where I felt we can do it and we came and did this. Things went really well and we’ve had an amazing experience so far.

The film Main Te Bapu was shot during the pandemic as you mentioned. As a producer, plus your wedding, how did you manage it all?

We weren’t able to manage. Because, we shot for four days and then restrictions changed again. And we had to cancel the shoot for a month, a month and a half. So, we only shot the film for four days, thinking, we’ll be able to do this film. And then, it got postponed again. And I went back to Canada. And I got a call that restrictions might change in three days. So, I waited for the news. It changed and I got the tickets, same day, I came back. And then I went back for the wedding.

The song Pehli Mulaqat has won the hearts of millions. Anything you have to say about it?

Pehli Mulaqat, the song, the concept came to me when I was in Mumbai, two years ago, working on a project. And, I was in the gym downstairs and I met someone and we were talking about a movie script. And, I went down, I got on the thread mill and this concept came to my mind. I told Laddi, I want you to write a song, which talks about first meeting, first day, and I want that emotion to carry on. So, that’s where the line came ‘Pehli Mulaqat’. And it’s such a happy mood vibe.

You are a newlywed. And it was a beautiful ceremony. Can you describe the Pehli Mulaqat with your wife?

We met through common friends. And, the first mulaqat was very intense. We were talking about life, we were talking about goals, we were talking about passions, we spoke for like three hours. By the end of three hours, I was like ‘I don’t like her, she is so strong in her opinions’. The first mulaqat was opposites.

Anything you would wish to share about your upcoming projects?

I have another movie, releasing by the end of this year. It’s called Tabbah. I’m directing that film. I’ve produced that film. And I love that character. It took a toll on me to play that character. Because I had to put on 35 kilos.
