EXCLUSIVE: Mani Ratnam praises Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as he reveals her best qualities

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made her acting debut in Mani Ratnam’s Tamil film ‘Iruvar’. Aishwarya later starred in his films ‘Guru’ and ‘Raavan’. Aishwarya Rai recently reunited with Mani Ratnam in Ponniyin Selvan 1. She played the role of Queen Nandini and wowed fans with her terrific acting in the film. Well, the actor-director pair has always created magic onscreen. Now, in a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Mani Ratnam opened up about working with Aishwarya Rai. He also revealed her ‘best qualities’.

The filmmaker said, “I remember the first day the first scene that she did and she was like a professional. She would know her lines and she would do it effortlessly. She would take direction very well so if you can talk to her, she takes it all in and she’s able to convert it into her own. She was very good even then in my opinion and Iruvar, her first film was kind of not an easy role because there are two shades of it and she was able to do both of them with enough conviction. I think she always had it in her.”

Further, when asked to reveal the best qualities about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Mani sir said, “First, she’s a friend. She’s loving, caring and a very professional actor. She’ll work hard and she’ll give you her best and you can’t expect more.”

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is one of the most versatile actors in Bollywood. She has proved her mettle as an artist with various projects such as Devdas, Jodhaa Akbar, and Aae Dil Hai Mushkil among others. The actress’ last film ‘Ponniyin Selvan: 1’, directed by Mani Ratnam, was released on 30^th September, 2022.
