EXCLUSIVE: Maniesh Paul shares ‘golden words’ about failure from JugJugg Jeeyo co-star Anil Kapoor

This gone Friday, Bollywood had the release of Raj Mehta’s family entertainer JugJugg Jeeyo featuring Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Maniesh Paul and Prajakta Koli. The film is performing well at the box office and critically too, it has received good reviews. One of the most surprising and lovable performances in the film is given by Maniesh Paul and recently, the actor got into an exclusive fun conversation with Bollywood Bubble.

During the conversation, the actor played a fun game of Who’s Most Likely To, JugJugg Jeeyo edition, where he unveiled some secrets of his castmates while answering questions. In one of the questions, when Maniesh was asked who is most likely to give unasked ‘gyaan’ to strangers, he whispered the answer, “Anil sir.”

But then in the next question, he made up for it as well, as when asked who gives the best advice in time of need, he took the veteran’s name again. Maniesh said, “That way I will definitely give it to Anil sir. I think me, Varun and everybody in fact used to ask him a lot of things like how cinema is changing and how it used to be in his time. The kind of things he shared with us, I think those are the golden words for us. It was a great learning ki chalo hum jo acting kar rahe hain, wo to hum seekh hi rahe hain but uske alawa jo unhone bataya na ki hits bhi hoti hain, flop bhi hoti hain, that is amazing. (It’s a great learning experience as we were anyway learning acting from him but he also taught us about how to deal with success and failures, and it was amazing).”

Bringing out one of his best Anil Kapoor impersonations ever, Maniesh went on to narrate an incident. He shared, “That day we were talking aur main apni baat kar raha tha ki meri pehli filmein chali nahi hain, and he was like, ‘kitni filmein kari hain tune? kitni, kitni? Mera dekh 7-8-10, 10-10 flop hui hain uske baad bhi yahaan.’ So, energy unki jo thi na matlab main bhi confidence mein aa gaya ki bahut badiya, maza aa gaya. (The other day I was talking to him about how my initial films didn’t work and he asked me, ‘how many films have you done? I have given 10 flops in a row, still I am here’ His energy gave confidence to me as well). So, I think he’s brilliant that way.”

Maniesh and Anil’s camaraderie in JugJugg Jeeyo has to be one the biggest highlights of the film and listening to this incident, it’s clear that the duo had some amazing time off screen as well. The actor went on to reveal secrets of his other co-actors as well including Varun, Kiara, Prajakta and Neetu ma’am, and it just shows that this wasn’t just a family on reel but in real as well.
