Manushi Chhillar made an impressive Hindi film debut with Akshay Kumar in the historical Samrat Prithviraj. The film might have received mixed reviews and has underperformed at the box office, but the Miss World 2017 has received good reviews for her portrayal of Princess Sanyogita in the film.

Ever since Manushi Chhillar was crowned Miss World 2017, there had been speculations whether the beauty pageant winner will choose to pursue a career in acting. Initially, she chose to continue with her medical studies but in November 2019, Manushi gave the good news to her fans by announcing that she was indeed going to make her debut in Hindi films with Samrat Prithviraj.

While most of her fans were elated at that announcement, there was a section of people who judged her and criticsed her for taking up the path of acting like a lot of other beauty pageant winners in the past. Even today she is subjected to that kind of response by some people. In a recent exclusive interaction with Bollywood Bubble, Manushi reacted to such comments and the trolls that do it from behind the digital screen.

When asked if any of such comments faze her, the actress laughs it off. She says, “The first thing is this is my life and these are my personal decisions. I am not going to make these decisions of my life based on what strangers I have never met and who are sitting behind a fake account, think I should be doing. Aap karo aapko jo karna hai life mein, koi nahi rok raha hai aapko. (You do whatever you want in your life, no one is stopping you). But I will also say that there have been a lot of pageant winners who have become actors and a lot who haven’t chose this path. Stereotyping anyone doesn’t makes sense to me.”

Manushi adds that the journey she has had in showbiz after winning Miss World, only she knows about it and that is why she did what she did. “This is my life, how it changed after winning Miss World with the opportunities and platform that I received, only I know that and it’s my decision only how I utilised them. I do want to say that from childhood, everyone has been fighting for the right to choose for themselves. Even today, not just women, but even men don’t get the right to choose their careers or life partners. Very few people get that freedom and I got that because of my parents, so I will use that freedom and I will choose what I want to do in life. And it is not to impress people but to live my life on my own terms,” she insists.

After giving an impressive debut in Samrat Prithviraj, Manushi is all set to make the most of this momentum. Reportedly she already has her second film locked that features her opposite Vicky Kaushal and is directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya. While she remains tight-lipped on it, she does say that the offers coming to her now are pretty exciting.
