Masaba Gupta and Neena Gupta are among one of the most loved and adored mother-daughter duo in the entertainment industry. Over the years, being a single mother to Masaba, the Badhaai Ho actress faced struggles, and even got criticized for her relationship with cricketer Viv Richards. This duo is currently winning hearts with the release of their show Masaba Masaba season 2. Ahead of the release of Masaba Masaba 2, we sat down with the mother-daughter duo for a candid interaction on the show Dear Buddy. In an interview with us, the Masaba Masaba stars opened up about their relationship and more.
Speaking with Bollywood Bubble, Masaba Gupta was asked about being bullied for the nature of her parents’ relationship. Neena Gupta also shared her thoughts on how she tried to shield her daughter from all the bullying during her young days. Masaba opened up about feeling angry when she was bullied at school over the nature of her parents’ relationship.
Masaba said, “There is a lot of strength in knowing the truth, in knowing your truth. Because, you can go to bed at night, knowing that you know exactly what your situation is, where you stand. There is a great amount of power in that. You know, then you’re not answerable to anyone. And, I think, for me as a child, obviously there was a lot of anger in being trolled.”

She added, “Because, my simple theory was that I remember being in school and for whatever reason, school, wherever. Being trolled for being raised by a single parent, the nature of my parents relationship, but I was like ‘Your father, your mother are everywhere. They are everywhere. That’s allowed?’ So your parents can pretend that this is a happy marriage, but your doing your own thing. But, my parents who decided not to get married because they were like we want to do our own thing. They still had me. Atleast they were honest about it.”

The designer continued, “There was a lot of rage that time. Now, I just laugh it off.”
When asked Neena Gupta how she shielded her daughter from the bullying, the actress said, “What I did was, always told her the truth. That shielded her. I didn’t have to do anything else.”
