Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor-starrer ambitious project Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva released in theatres gone weekend after a long wait. There were huge expectations riding on Brahmastra and its box office performance, and it lived up to them. It found acceptance with the audience and immense love for the whole team. A breakout star that emerged from the film is Mouni Roy, and recently, she indulged in an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble where she opened up about getting so much love.
Although Mouni Roy plays a villain named Junoon in the film, she has found acceptance from all over. People have complemented her on the way she has held her own even in front of legends like Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, Ranbir and Alia. When asked if she expected such immense love coming her way, she replied, “No, not at all. I am so shocked and surprised beyond imagination that people have welcomed her so beautifully. They all love to hate her and that is a very new feeling for me.”

Mouni revealed she was quite scared of her friends’ reception to the film, but was quite pleasantly surprised by them. “In fact, I was just talking about it, my friends are my biggest critics and every single time that I do some work and they don’t like it, they just come up to me and be like ‘why did you embarrass us like that?’ This time it was 60 of us going to watch Brahmastra together and they were all so excited.”

The actress’ biggest scare was about their reception to her appearance as Junoon in Brahmastra. “I know my friends and I knew what I was wearing and my garb, I was looking outlandish and she is outrageous in her own ways Junoon. So, I was like God only knows what these guys are going to say. But most of them were like teary-eyed and they were so proud. I was just so overwhelmed by the end of the screening, I think I was like in tears and I was crying. So, that was something very new for me to in fact have it from my own friends and families.”

While Mouni’s friends were impressed, her mother and her best friend had quite unique reactions. “My mother was petrified. She was just so scared of Junoon. She’s looking at my face and being like, ‘oh, you know how to do this also’. The best thing is what my childhood bestie said. Anisha says, ‘We see her like this everyday’.” When jokingly asked if the last thing is true, Mouni laughed saying, “I am not. When I am fighting maybe.”
Not just people in her life, but Mouni also got the acceptance of her industry peers. She shared, “I feel very happy and grateful about the fact that whoever I have worked with in the past or whoever I am working with in the future, all those who have actually watched the film, they have all messaged saying we are so proud of you. They feel that connect with me that somewhere and at some point in time they cheered for me, and they still cheer for me and give me their best wishes. So, that’s very endearing and nice to see.”

Mouni Roy has surely raised the bar with her performance in Brahmastra, and Junoon is surely going to open many new doors for the actress professionally.
