EXCLUSIVE: Neelima Azeem REVEALS why Shahid Kapoor and Ishaan Khattar never got addressed as ‘nepotism’ kids

Neelima Azeem is the ‘super mom’ who gave birth to two supremely talented actors, Shahid Kapoor and Ishaan Khattar. Shahid Kapoor was born to Neelima when she was merely 21 years. Ishaan arrived in her life 14 years later. While Shahid is the son of actor Pankaj Kapur, Ishaan is the offspring of actor Rajesh Khatter, Neelima’s second husband. However, after separation, Neelima raised Shahid and Ishaan, single-handedly.

Though Shahid and Ishaan have a filmy background, their name was never dragged in the ‘nepotism debate.’ We, at Bollywood Bubble, recently got in a chat with Neelima Azeem and asked her about the same.  She revealed why her kids never got mentioned much during the nepotism​ debate. “The reason for that is my mother and father were doing Urdu Films. I never told my Guru about our link with Nawab of Rampur. He asked, ‘You never said about all this!’ I told him that he would give me a special preference. And how would I know that I’m that good or not good? I built on my own,” she said.

She added, “I did not tell Shahid (Kapoor) and Ishaan (Khattar) about this too so that they don’t feel free. Jab aap akele kaam karte na toh phir aap apne aapko khubsoorti se tarashte. (When you work individually, you enhance your abilities). Ishaan also spent most of his time growing and learning on his own, which is a wonderful thing and his work reflects that. He’s very individual and you can see it in Beyond The Clouds, Dhadak and Suitable Boy.”
