EXCLUSIVE: Neena Gupta on never poisoning Masaba Gupta about ex Viv Richards: How can you hate someone you once loved?

Neena Gupta and daughter Masaba Gupta have had a relationship that goes beyond the realm of a mother-daughter bond and is more like a friends’ equation. Neena ji has raised Masaba as a single parent and thus the bond between them is way too strong. That is what even makes their on screen bonding work in Netflix’s Masaba Masaba as well, that just recently came out with its second season.

The fiery mother-daughter duo of Neena Gupta and Masaba Gupta recently got into an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble in our new segment Dear Buddy, and there they spoke their hearts out about their life. One of those topics was Masaba’s father and Neena ji’s ex, former West Indian cricketer Vivian Richards. Neena ji and Viv were in a relationship in the 1980s and that’s when they had Masaba, however, due to the cricketer being already married at the time, she chose to raise Masaba as a single parent.

Today, Masaba has a great equation with her dad and she admits that it could have been easy for Neena ji to poison her against him, but she didn’t. She said, “The thing with her is that she lets me make my own decisions, make my own judgements. Decide what role this person plays in your life. Whether you want them to play a role or not and it’s great. I am an adult now and I have discovered my own relationship with my father and it’s great. And you know, this thing of poisoning one person against the other na, I find it very 1995. Some people enjoy that. I think she is too busy for that.”

However Neena ji has a very unique take on this and she reveals why she doesn’t have any bad blood with Viv. She shared, “I believe that if once you loved somebody, how can you hate? You cannot live, you cannot be together. I don’t hate my ex-boyfriends, I don’t hate my ex-husband, I don’t. Why should I hate? Kisi ne aapko itna bura kiya ho, agar koi mere ko itna bura lagta hai to main usse baccha paida karungi hi kyun? Main pagal hun kya? (If I hated someone that much, why would I have had a kid with that person? Am I mad?)”

Neena ji has always been an inspiration the way she has led her life and she and Masaba are a house on fire together and their bonding reflects in their conversations. As for their on screen outing, Masaba Masaba 2 is really enjoying some rave reviews. These two ladies are truly inspirational.
