Scam 1992 The Harshad Mehta Story star Pratik Gandhi who is gearing up to release Bhavai soon in the theatres went a little candid during an exclusive interview with BollywoodBubble. The actor went on to reveal that he faced rejection on television on basis of his appearance during the initial days of his career. When the actor was asked about battling with people’s perception of theatre actors, Pratik said, “Theatre actors were always being considered as a set of actors who have worked very hard, theatre is a live format, no retakes, you’ve to prepare yourself so strong that before you go on stage that there’s a zero scope for an error.

So, with all these things, the perception of the theatre actors are very good, ‘arre he must be talented, he will be good’ but at the same time, will he be successful commercially?  So, answer to that is… ‘I don’t know.’ There’s no answer to this unless  you do it, unless he is given a chance you’ll never be able to judge it. It is all about that one chance, that one project, that one film, that can let him perform, let him reach out to people and let him decide,” he continued.

Referring to his previous answer, Gandhi was asked about the rejections he has faced back in his initial days. To which he told us, “I was always a lean and thin guy, I always had this complexion (gesturing to his dusky skin) My approach towards getting a character was very… I never had a particular style or particular method, I was always an intuitive actor. Waha jaake jo sujhega, jis hisaab se energy kaam karegi uss hisaab se perform karenge. When I started, searching for work in Bombay, it was the time where the TV was the biggest phenomenon, every actor wanted to work in TV because television was churning out serials after serials and they were working continuously. There was good money also. I had no idea how to get into films, who to meet, how to approach, how will we get to know where the auditions are happening, I had no clue about that. Film was the medium where I used to meet a lot of people saying aaj yaha audition, aaj waha audition hai. I gave a lot of auditions but I don’t know why TV never happened to me.
