EXCLUSIVE: Raashii Khanna reveals she was bullied for being overweight, recalls being called ‘gas tanker’

Just like many other actors in the tinsel town, actor Raashii Khanna was overly criticised for being overweight. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Raashii recalled the time when people called her ‘Gas tanker’. She revealed that she was body-shamed and faced bullying in the South.

When asked about the worst criticism she has heard in her entire career, Raashii recalled, “I think the worst is just that initially when I joined, actually I have been lucky with the kind of roles I have got, probably necessary related to my weight, they used to say that I’m a gas tanker in the South when I started. And I didn’t say anything as I was quite big for the mainstream and I did become fitter in time, not to please anybody because I knew that the job requires that. So I have faced online bullying and honestly, it didn’t bother me because I was like ‘okay, this is what you feel, say it‘”

When asked how people sometimes tend to become very disrespectful when one actor comes to the heavier side. They disregard the talent and only talk about the looks. Reacting to the same, the World Famous Lover actor said, “Those are not the kind of people you should give importance anywhere. Maybe they are frustrated in life and we actors are very easy preys for them. They are like ‘let me pick this actor and write shit about them.’ I mean it makes them feel happy. In a way, if I’m the reason for someone’s happiness then why not. Tumhe khushi ho rahi hai toh likh lo.”

Raashii also mentioned that initially, the criticism did affect him. “In the beginning when I started when people were commenting on my weight, then yes. I was like ‘itna kyu farak padh raha hai,‘ adding that she even suffered PCOD.

Raashii Khanna will be working opposite Sidharth Malhotra for the first time in Yodha. The action thriller also stars Disha Patani and is bankrolled by Karan Johar. The film is all set to hit the big screens on September 11, 2022. She will also be seen in Raj and DK directorial which also stars Shahid Kapoor and Vijay Sethpathi.
