In the current times, remakes have become quite a norm in the Hindi film industry. There are several remakes of regional films, international films or even old Hindi classics that are attempted every now and then. RajKummar Rao is all set to come with one this Friday with HIT: The First Case, that is a remake of the 2020 Telugu film by the same name. Recently, the actor got into a conversation with Bollywood Bubble where he gave his take on remakes while giving a major update on a project he has been associated with.

Talking about remakes, RajKummar said, “I was never fond of remakes but HIT was that film, that when the initial conversation for it started in 2020 when we all were in a lockdown, anyway we were watching lot of content, I was like why not, let’s watch another film, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought it was so very well written and so gripping.”

However, that doesn’t mean that he didn’t make sure that he steps into a film that has a soul of its own. “I wanted to talk to the director because I didn’t want him to just copy-paste and make just another language film. So, I spoke to him and he told me how he wants to have a new take in the Hindi one and he wants to reach a wider audience by making the film in Hindi language, and he has done that. He has changed so many things, the treatment is completely different, there are so many things that have been changed in the screenplay. When I saw the original, it was in 2020 and when I saw our film, it didn’t remind me of the original one at all. It felt like a fresh new film. Of course the soul is similar, the story is somewhat similar but a very different take,” he insisted.
And when it comes to remakes, RajKummar was associated with one cult classic that was being remade, the 1975 film Chupke Chupke starring Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Sharmila Tagore and Jaya Bachchan. Even the actor had gone on record to confirm it. When asked about any development on it, RajKummar informs, “No, we are not doing that anymore. It’s a classic, maybe that’s the reason we are not doing it.”
