Ram Gopal Varma is not only known for his filmmaking techniques but also his outspoken nature. He wears his hearts on his sleeves and does not shy away from being straightforward. He says what he feels, and puts his honest opinions out there, regardless of what others think. While some resonate with his thoughts, others mock him. Over the years, Ram Gopal Varma has been trolled for his comments on Twitter, severely, but he has been unabashed about it.

Some rever Ram Gopal Varma, some despise him. While some find him problematic, many find him entertaining. We, at Bollywood Bubble, tapped into the dual sides of the filmmaker in an exclusive chat. We asked Ram Gopal Varma if the trolling on social media affects him, and how he deals with it. “See, I feel, the whole point of social media is that everyone reacts to everybody. And the stronger you have an opinion, the stronger they react. I think that given if you want to be on social media. That really does not bother me. And most of the time, I don’t even check my timeline or what people are saying unless someone sends me a link of anything,” he told us.

He continued, “To a large part, they are just a bunch of barking dogs, who don’t really mean anything, what they write also. So, that’s not the issue. But, irrespective of what they say or not say, I think social media’s main purpose is to express your opinion, or say something which you believe or felt at that moment, and I will continue doing that.”

RGV has given several gems to the Indian cinema. We also asked him, if he found it difficult to bridge the gap between conventional and unconventional cinema and entertain the masses. To which he replied, “I wouldn’t say that because I started off with Siva, and I never assisted anyone. But, I think the way I narrated Nagarjuna and his family, they were very impressed with my narration, and somehow they got convinced, and they gave me a free hand to do it my way.”

“I never thought of the film as a commercially successful film. This is the kind of film I want to see, and this is the only driving force, and that is pretty much what I follow. I never really felt a struggle of how I could make or not make it. I never really felt that yeah,” concluded Ram Gopal Varma.
