EXCLUSIVE: Ranveer Singh REACTS to people judging his fashion choices, reveals what inspired his ‘atrangi’ style

Apart from his impeccable acting skills, actor Ranveer Singh is also known for his never-seen-before fashion game. It is everyday Met Gala for the actor to be honest. Among many stars in Bollywood, Ranveer is the one who has broken the mainstream of fashion for men, he has pushed the fashion boundaries to another level. Due to this, the Jayeshbhai Jordaar actor is often in the spotlight for his atrangi statement. While some appreciate Ranveer for taking a bold and risky step, some people make fun of his fashion choices.

Now, in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Ranveer Singh reveals that he is ready to accept judgement on his work but not on his persona. He told us, “I’ll accept judgment for my work but not for my persona. I like you said started doing more and more work, it started getting appreciated, I grew in confidence and then I just started making more authentic choices. For instance, this whole dressing thing which I understand is a great big discourse when it comes to me like my dressing sense or whatever is often talked about but it’s like it is what it is. Honestly, I was an atrangi avant-garde extremely experimental in terms of how I put myself together ever since I was a kid, like the first second third standard I used to do all this. My school friends are the least bit surprised by this they’re like it’s just you, you doing you what you’ve always done. Like in the third standard, I got my ears pierced in the third standard, I got a mohawk in the third standard like I have a mohawk, I’ve got these tattoos on I’ve got like this tie and I’ve tattered t-shirt and baggy jeans so basically a lot of my friends and colleagues and peers have been asking why do you choose it’s great that you are you make choices that you feel are authentic to you and you are very much doing you and it’s great to see but just curious where is it all coming from so because so many of my peers started asking me, again and again, I had to analyze and wonder why me is it’s because I watched too much music television.”

In the same interview, Ranveer Singh also mentioned what inspired his atrangi fashion style, “I was in front of the idiot box all day watching MTV and I was hugely influenced by everything that I saw,” adding that he saw Snoop Dog, Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Tupac Shakur and other hip-hop music videos.

“I was that music culture just I would want to dress like them I’d listen to that music so i was hugely influenced uh like that so this tag of atrangi people have been calling me that since a long time so this what you see today is me just being authentic because of my earliest experiences,” Ranveer concluded.
