Rashmika Mandanna, the National crush of the country is loved by one and all. The actress marked her acting debut with the 2016 Kannada film Kirik Party. Rashmika later made her Telugu debut with the film Chalo in 2018 and is now all set to mark her Bollywood debut soon. It is no secret that actors get typecast and stereotyped very soon be it in movies, television, or an industry as a whole. So Rashmika has also faced this divide and has been labelled as a ‘south actress’. In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble on Her Story Season 2, Pushpa: The Rise actress opened up about the South versus North divide. Rashmika also said that she does not want to be known as just a ‘south actress’.
Speaking with Bollywood Bubble, Rashmika said, “Oh I still get it. Like I do get it of course. But, since I just take it in a positive note saying, since I’ve made so much name down there, people just term me like that. But then it’s like when I walk down on the street, I wouldn’t prefer calling me just a South Indian heroine.”
The actress added, “I am a face everywhere. Like probably tomorrow I’ll go and do a Bengali film, you know, they can’t just say, she’s come here and done a South Indian film. I want to be known as an Indian star. I’ll be anywhere, I’ll be in posters in anywhere, in the smallest of the towns and I want to be known as this.”
Mandanna continued, “But again coming back to this, where women want to make such a difference. I think now, even somehow, we’re so strong, men are giving this.”
