EXCLUSIVE: Sanjay Mishra credits Rohit Shetty for bringing him back to Bollywood: On Cirkus, he’d say mera Kapil Dev tayyar hai

Sanjay Mishra is one of the talented actors of Bollywood. Sanjay made his acting debut in the 1995 film ‘Oh Darling! Yeh Hai India!’. Later, he went on to appear in many films including Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal, Golmaal Returns among others. The veteran actor’s journey has its ups and downs. For the uninitiated, there was a time when Sanjay Mishra left acting and started selling tea. It was Rohit Shetty who brought him back to acting. Now, in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Sanjay Mishra got candid as he opened up on his bond with Rohit Shetty and reuniting with him in Cirkus.

The veteran actor said, “Rohit sir ka jab bhi phone aata hai meri rooh kaap jaati hai, bukaar lagne lagta hai ki ek aur nayi film ki aare baachao isse (laughs) Fir 2-3 miss call aate hai inke office se, phir mein ‘Ha hello, Kya hua?’ toh, ‘Sir ek film kar rahe hai Rohit sir aapko…’ Acha theek hai. Fir Rohit Shetty se milo (Whenever a call comes from Rohit Shetty, my soul trembles, I feel feverish that one more new film, someone save me (laughs). After that, you get 2-3 miss calls from his office and then I answer saying ‘Hello, what happened?’ ‘Sir, there’s a new film and Rohit sir wants…’ And then you meet Rohit Shetty)

Sanjay Mishra went on to add, “Kya hota hai na bohot umeed hoti hai inn logon ko ki inn dono ki chemistry joh hai, bohot darr lagta hai. Ab dekhte hai Rohit Shetty aur Sanjay Mishra. Aur issi picture ka bata raha hu aisa relation na dhak dhak ‘Hello Rohit sir aapse na skype pe baat karenge’, ‘Oh ho aaj light kat jaye nahin toh office ki light kat jaaye’. Fir baat-chit shuru hoti hai, phir thodusa utsutka jagti hai. (What happens is people have expectations because of the chemistry we have (Sanjay and Rohit), it’s scary. And I’ll tell you something related to this film only ‘Hello, Rohit sir wants to talk to you via skype’, ‘I hope that today my light goes off or the office’s light goes off’. And then, the conversation starts and you get excited)

He added that when the shooting starts, ‘Rohit Shetty aata hai ‘ek min kangi dena’ aur woh kangi karta hai aapko aur uske baad kehta hai ‘kehdo sabko mera Kapil Dev aagaya hai’ (Rohit Shetty comes and he’s like ‘one min give me a comb’ and he starts combing your hair and then says ‘tell everyone that my Kapil Dev is here’ (laughs)”

Rohit and Sanjay has always been a hit Jodi. The veteran actor will be seen playing a pivotal role in Rohit’s upcoming film, Cirkus which also stars Ranveer Singh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Pooja Hegde and Johnny Lever.

Talking about Vadh, it also stars Neena Gupta and is slated to release on 9^th December, 2022.
