There are several actors who have gone went the extra mile to get into the skin of the character whenever they see it is a challenging part to play. While some lock themselves in a room, some simply start behaving in the particular character. Among many, even actor Sanya Malhotra felt the challenging part while shooting for her upcoming film, Love Hostel with Vikrant Massey. During the exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Sanya revealed that she had to go through therapy as she was unable to sleep at night after reading the script.
The Pagglait actor told us, “The whole film was quite emotionally heavy for me. Playing Jyoti (Sanya’s character name), though Jyoti is very confident because she has that conditioning, she has seen her elders, especially her grandmother and behaves in a certain way which gives her confidence and privilege but it was definitely quite heavy for me. I remember during our first-two readings, ek look test ke baad hamara readings tha and after that one reading, I could not sleep because I physically feel the pain of what these two people were feeling. I could empathise with Jyoti and Ashu (Vikrant Massey’s character name) so much that I could not sleep the entire night. The next morning also, I couldn’t pinpoint why I am feeling so uneasy.”

Sanya even revealed that she started crying during her look-test shoot. “While sitting on the makeup chair, Shankar sir came and asked ‘are you ready for your look test?’ and I started crying and he stopped everything. He sat with me for an hour and he listened to me blabbering about how much I felt for them, I told him that I feel like protecting both of them. The whole film was definitely emotional and tough for all of us but thank god, I was constantly in touch with my therapist too because there are things that Jyoti and Ashu are going through which I could never imagine as Sanya. I had no reference point or things that I could not imagine. Kuch kuch cheezein aisi ho rahi hai film mein in which I have to completely surrender myself for a character like jyoti. Mere liye tough that but it was such a gratifying thing for an actor wo boundaries thodi blur ho jaati hai as you start living your character’s life,” she continued.
