Shantanu Maheshwari is currently on cloud nine for his performance in the recently released Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movie, Gangubai Kathiawadi, which hit the cinemas on 25 February. This film marked Shantanu’s debut in the Bollywood industry and he essayed the role of Afsaan, Gangubai’s lover.
The dancer-turned-actor Shantanu, who started his journey from the small screen and became everyone’s crush now. He began his journey as an actor in Dil Dosti Dance, which marked his television debut and his breakout performance as the protagonist Swayam Shekhawat was lauded by the audience and he is still remembered for his character by his fans.
Now, in an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble, the actor revealed if he was ever being typecast for being a television actor. He said: “Sometimes they say that ‘you’re over exposed.’ The thing that I have witnessed and experienced is that when you are giving audition you are being told ‘Aap bhot TV jaise karte ho,’ which I don’t understand what does it even mean. I mean, acting is acting. Whatever you will brief me and they way you direct me, I will act in that way. So, that I used to find it very irritating. Apart from that, I have never experience face anything something like this.”

Meanwhile, he was also a part of MTV’s Girls On Top. He was a celebrity contestant in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa on Colors TV where he became the second runner-up in 2016. He later went on to participate in Nach Baliye Season 9 and became the fourth runner-up. Shantanu also participated in Khatron Ke Khiladi 8 and emerged the winner.
