EXCLUSIVE: Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani reveal what they have is ‘real and honest’; watch video

Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra’s Shershaah released on digital platforms yesterday (August 12) and is receiving a thunderous response. Apart from the film and the patriotism, it’s Kiara and Sid’s chemistry that has gained maximum eyeballs. Their on-screen love story is cute and emotional and many know that they are also together in real life. In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, the rumoured couple opened up about each other, what they love about each other and the chemistry they share on-screen and off it. 

Sid and Kiara have brought alive the beautiful love story of Captain Vikram Batra and Dimple Cheema on-screen in Shershaah. Revealing what he likes about Kiara and his experience of working with her, Sidharth said, “For the unversed, we were cast for this film many years ago. This film has been a long journey that we were cast for it after Lust Stories when we saw Kiara Advani in Karan Johar’s short film. We felt that she was apt for somebody like Dimple (Cheema). Because Dimple and Vikram Batra’s story is a true story that looks very filmy and has very filmy moments in it and yet we wanted to make it as authentic and real. And we needed an actor who’s very honest and earnest and Kiara has played that part to the T. And brings in such strong strength and sense of honesty and that’s what I like about her as a performer. She has worked really hard to get the accent, she isn’t a Punjabi so she learned Punjabi for her role and she is rendering it with such confidence and ease.”

He went on to add, “I feel she is very instinctive on set. Whether it’s her prep she likes to come out on set and instinctively perform. And it’s been real and honest with her that’s what I like about her. She is somebody who has also spend enough time in the industry and I think the reason we connect is because we both are honest as people and we are actors and yet if you meet us in a social gathering we would come across as regular people because there’s a lack of facade. So that’s a kind of connection. And we are happy that people are liking Vikram and Dimple’s story being portrayed through me and Kiara in Shershaah. And we are hoping once they see the film they feel and fall in love with this interesting love story.”

Whereas Kiara too showered praises on Sidharth for the dedication and hard work that he put into this film. “Professionally, I have only known him now, this is the only film we have done together. What I observed of him as an actor and as a co-actor is that he is extremely focused and he was very driven. I guess people who have known him before or after have seen that difference. For me, I only saw this version of him. Maybe I don’t know, he was inspired by the role he was playing, he knew the responsibility. But, I knew that this film to him was so special because he had lived with it long before things had come together. He was one of the first people on board even before the producer, the director had come together to make this film. I think for him, it’s a big part of his heart and it’s a big part of his life both professionally and personally. I feel today when I watch the film it shows. You can see his sweat and blood that has been put into it. 

When quizzed if they both would do more films together, Kiara said, “I hope we do more work together, I hope we do more films together. Someone has to come with a script that is as exciting for both of us. Hopefully. Fingers crossed on that.”

Yes, we would definitely love to see this rumoured couple share screen-space once again. After all, who doesn’t love Sidara?
