Sidharth Malhotra had a dream launch in Bollywood with Karan Johar’s Student of the Year. The dashing star shared the screen space with Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan. But though the movie went on to be a hit, it was not a bed of roses for the hunk. After many ups and downs, the Ek Villain star finally proved his mettle with Shershaah a biopic on Kargil martyr Vikram Batra.

Today as Sidharth Malhotra completes 10 glorious years in Bollywood he sat down for an exclusive chat with us and opened up about getting his dues after Shershaah. Also how he has become more choosy about taking up any new project.

Speaking to Bollywood Bubble host Nayandeep Rakshit the Shershaah actor said, “I think I’ve had a very up and down career and have been grateful for those ups and have at times struggled with those downs. But I think eventually the audience is responsible for my being here at present. At times I have no control and all I can do is face that camera and do whatever is the best version of that scene. I have been doing that for the last ten years of my life. Have been blessed to get this kind of love which I see around and recently from Shershaah. A film that I have been an integral part of from the beginning. So it gives you even more confidence that you know some creative decisions that you’re taking on a big project like this are going right means there is a cinema brain in my head.”

He added, “I feel that I’m sometimes too picky and too choosy uh and too finicky with making choices. So a story has to hit my head and heart so I can give it my all. I think Shershaah is a prime example of that because I was so absorbed, so keen and so involved in it that I never felt it like a struggle for me to be on Shershaah set on even the most difficult terrains. We took the longest time to start the film, the longest to shoot it and release it and all through this I was very silently and patiently waiting for it to come out. But I think that passionate and full-fledged conviction is what made the journey easy. That’s what I am looking for now when I hear scripts and think, do I feel passionately for this script and the story and the storyteller? It kind of actually made it difficult for me to choose other films.”

Sid is presently gearing up for his next Thank God. The Indra Kumar directorial also features Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh and will release in theatres on October 25.
