EXCLUSIVE: Sonali Bendre on future projects: Mujhe interest kahani mein hai, kirdaar mein hai

Sonali Bendre mesmerised her audience with her charm and innocence in the ’90s. She ruled the big screen during that time but then the actress took a sabbatical from the medium. During that time, she also suffered from cancer, battled it and came out victorious. And recently, she made her big acting comeback with The Broken News that also marked her OTT debut. The actress got into an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble for it where she opened up about what lies ahead for her.

Playing the character of Amina Qureshi, Sonali Bendre showed her acting prowess in The Broken News, proving why she enjoys the stature that she does. The performance left her fans wanting more, with a desire to see her in more projects. And during the conversation the actress opened up about the kind of work that she is looking to do, now that she is back at work.

Sonali asserted that more than the platform or anything, it’s the content that matters to her. She said, “Mujhe sirf main kya keh rahi hun aur kis tarah ki kahaniyan suna rahi hun usse matlab hai. Jab maine is kahani (The Broken News) ko haan kiya, mujhe ye bhi nahi pata tha ki ye kis platform pe aane wali hai, because it doesn’t matter. Kahani hai aur us kahani mein kaam karna hai and apne character ko aawaz dena hai, that’s my job. Ab wo jahan pe aaye, wahaan pe hamesha koshish yahi rahegi ki jab aap kuch bhi karte ho to zyada se zyada log use dekhein aur aapki aawaz zyada se zyada logon tak pahunche, to bas wahi prayas hai. Baaki OTT ho, ya film ho ya television, mujhe interest kahani mein hai, kirdaar mein hai. (I am only interested in what kind of stories I am telling. When I said yes to this project (The Broken News), I didn’t even know what platform it was being made for because it doesn’t matter. My job is just to present the story at hand and give voice to my character. Then wherever it comes, our attempt is always to make our work reach as many people as it can and they see it. Then whether it is OTT, film or TV, that doesn’t matter as my interest is in the story and my character).
