Tillotama Shome is one of the versatile actors of Bollywood. With hard work and talent, she has successfully carved a niche for herself in the industry. With films like Monsoon Wedding and Sir, Tillotama Shome has proved she is a phenomenal actress and ‘one of a kind’. She recently delivered a terrific performance in the second season of Delhi Crime. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Tillotama opened up about being judged and her journey in the industry.
The actress has had quite an eventful journey. She did not have a quintessential Hindi film debut. Talking about the same, Tillotama said, “The industry is like an invisible faceless world. I know people in it and they’ve been very very kind people who’ve given me a chance otherwise I won’t even be sitting here. So I can’t make any blanket statement about that. I really do feel that filmmaking is a war and it’s really hard and whether you like it or not, the process of making it is really hard.”

The actress added, “I spent 2-3 years of my life grudging and looking down at the industry and being cynical and feeling a sense of you know.. when you’re in a good, when you’re feeling arrogant then you’re like they don’t know any better and why are they not giving me a chance and that negativity it was acidic, it ate me up. There are a very few key people in my life. Anup Singh was one of them. Irrfan was one of them. My partner is a wonderfully funny man and he played a huge part in it who got me out of that. They said something very simple that no one wants to work with someone who’s cynical and bitter. So while you may feel you’re justified in feeling this, it’s painful to go through life like that. The moment I let go that don’t work with me, it’s ok. Work with me I hope with time I can seduce you to working with me and then it’s a mutual thing. I really what to be clear when I say this seduction is through the work.”
She went on to add, “It may take time. All trees don’t grow into magnificent trees with great shade and great branch and foliage at the same time. Some trees take longer to grow so maybe it’ll take me a little longer. And maybe because I don’t have the kind of magical eyes that Shefali (Shah) has, it might take me a little longer and the luscious lips that she has, but I will grow.”
