EXCLUSIVE: Vishal Jethwa recalls ‘risky’ fight scene with Rani Mukerji in Mardaani 2: Ek hafte training mili ek punch ke liye

Actor Vishal Jethwa who was last seen in Salaam Venky with Kajol made his Bollywood debut with Mardaani 2 opposite Rani Mukerji. Earlier, the actor featured in TV shows before essaying the role of antagonist in the Yash Raj movie. he even garnered immense appreciation for his negative role in the movie. Considering that Mardaani 2 was his debut film and worked with Rani for the first time, his first encounter with her was surreal.

Talking about a fight sequence with Rani Mukerji in Mardaani 2, Vishal revealed it was risky. He even mentioned that the team had to put him in workshops to learn one kick. During an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Vishal told us, “Pata hai, wo issi room ki baat hai. Climax mein mujhe jab ma’am ke saath ek fight sequence karna tha, chotasa tha jaha ek punch karna tha, ek kick karna tha aur ye saare risky shots the mere liye. Bhale mein 10 saal tak kaam kiya tha, par yaha sablogo ko lag raha tha ki ye toh naya hai, isko hum kaise control karenge, kahi josh me aake Rani ma’am ko galtise lag na jaaye. Toh mujhe ek hafte ki training mili ek punch sikhne ke liye. Ek hafte training li ek punch sikhne ke liye, ye hi room mein.”

When asked about his experience shooting the fight sequence, to which, Vishal revealed that it was very scary for him, adding that he even felt uncomfortable when Kajol held his feet during the Salaam Venky shoot.

Vishal Jethwa on his first meeting:

The Peshwa Bajirao further spoke about his first meeting with Rani Mukerji and said, “Hum Yash Raj studios me hi mila tha aur hamare film ka muhurat tha aur maine ma’am ko sirf dekha. Mujhe shuru mein aisa laga ki shayad YRF itna particular hai har ek cheez ko lekar, amazing learning hoti hai, aap manje huye kalakar hi nahi but ek person bhi ban jaate ho. Toh mujhe laga ki inhone iske liye bhi time rakha rahega like abhi Vishal ko mat bulao, ki abhi Vishal ko bulao, abhi aaj mil sakte hai, wo bohot prepared hai. Mujhe laga aisa kuch hoga but aisa kuch hua hi nahi, maine kuch zyada hi soch liya tha (laughs). Muhurat ke samay main Rani ma’am ko mila aur main dara so maine Gopi sir ko pucha ‘aaj milna ki baadme milna hai’ and Gopi sir ne bola ‘ha milatu hai na me’. Toh sir ne mujhe milaya and Rani ma’am ne kaha ‘hi’ aur main, ‘hi ma’am, maine sapne me bhi nahi socha tha ki aapse milunga aur aapke saath kaam karunga wo bhi Yash Raj mein. Toh haath milaya ma’am se and she said ‘I will be like friends on sets no worries’ and I was like ‘wah’.”
