Sri Lankan singer Yohani became an internet sensation after her cover of the Sinhala song ‘Manike Mage Hithe’ went viral on social media. The song which was released last year became immensely popular. Several celebrities including Tiger Shroff and Madhuri Dixit soon shared videos of themselves grooving to the song. Now, Yohani sat down for an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble and opened up on the success of Manike and how it changed her life.
The singer shared, “It was very instant. I think it took a couple of months for me to really process what was happening and because everything was going so fast. I came to India last year for a couple of shows and then went back and then signed with T-Series and now I’m here in Mumbai. I moved here. So, between the song and now so much of my life has changed. I think I’m still processing everything.”

Further, when asked what was the idea behind Manike, she said, “So, Manike is the song that my friend did who sings the rap in the song. We are friends, the producer and all we are friends. Sri Lanka is a small country like 22 million population, so we are all friends. During Covid, I was like let’s just do a song as a cover for the fun of it. I recorded it at home. There’s nothing much going on if you see the video also so that’s how it happened. We didn’t really think about it too much.”
Yohani has successfully made a mark for herself in the industry. She has already sung two Hindi songs – the romantic ballad Shiddat and the remix version of Manike for Ajay Devgn-Siddharth Malhotra starrer Thank God. The singer recently collaborated with Jubin Nautiyal for the song Tu Saamne Aaye.
