‘Fanney Khan’ to release as scheduled, SC rejects Vashu Bhagnani’s plea

Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Rajkummar Rao starrer ‘Fanney Khan‘ will release as per its scheduled date, August 3. The reason why we are informing the same to you is that on Monday, producer Vashu Bhagnani had challenged the film’s release in Supreme Court over distribution rights. However, the top court has dismissed the same, making the road clear for Atul Manjrekar’s film.

To the uninitiated, Vashu Bhagnani’s company, Pooja Entertainment & Films Ltd, had claimed that it owns exclusive rights to distribute, exhibit and exploit the commercial and non-commercial theatrical rights for Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s ‘Fanney Khan’ throughout India and had entered a deal with the co-producer of the film in December last year.

The producer had even alleged that he had paid approximately Rs. 10 crores to the film’s producers. However, the deal was not honoured. Earlier, as well Vashu filed two separate petitions in the Delhi and Bombay High Courts, but, on July 19, Delhi High Court instructed him to not interfere with the film’s release.

Finally, ‘Fanney Khan’ is out of troubles and is set to entertain the audience this Friday. Speaking about the plot of the film, it is a bond between a father, played by Anil Kapoor and daughter (Pihu Sand), who dreams of becoming the next singing sensation, with a pinch of comedy and drama. Alongside Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Rajkummar Rao, the film also features actress Divya Dutta.
