Farah Khan recalls how she ‘didn’t want to step out’ after Tees Maar Khan but her mom-in-law encouraged her

Farah Khan recently completed three decades in the industry. Over the years, she has directed many films including Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer Tees Maar Khan. In a recent interview, Farah recalled how Tees Maar Khan was ‘ripped apart’ by people. She revealed that she didn’t feel like stepping out of the house. It was her mother-in-law who encouraged her.

She told Bombay Times, “I still recall how Tees Maar Khan was ripped apart and though people said a lot of things about it, the film made money. I’ve been a fighter and a survivor. After Tees Maar Khan, I didn’t want to step out, even though I was winning an award for the choreography of Sheila Ki Jawani.”

She added, “My mother-in-law encouraged me to go for it. So, through time and the ups and downs, I grew older and wiser, and had kids.”

Tees Maar Khan also starring Akshaye Khanna was produced by Twinkle Khanna, Shirish Kunder and Ronnie Screwvala. Farah Khan made her directorial debut with Shah Rukh Khan and Sushmita Sen starrer Main Hoon Na. She last directed the film Happy New Year, which starred Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Abhishek Bachchan.

Talking about Akshay and Katrina’s work front, both have interesting projects in the pipeline. The actor will be seen in Raksha Bandhan, Ram Setu, Oh My God 2 and Mission Cinderella. Katrina, on the other hand, will be seen in Phone Bhoot and Merry Christmas.
