Farah Khan reveals crying in front of Shah Rukh Khan for over an hour while filming Om Shanti Om; Here’s why

Farah Khan is a close friend of Shah Rukh Khan and recently she got candid about the emotional support King Khan gave her before, during and after her pregnancy. For those who don’t know, Farah conceived triplets through IVF when she was in her 40s. The director-choreographer fondly remembered SRK being by her side while she went through the artificial insemination procedure while filming Om Shanti Om and more.

During a recent chat on Nova IVF Fertility’s YouTube channel, Farah Khan got candid about her artificial insemination procedure while filming Om Shanti Om. She also spoke about how she used to cry on sets after failed attempts and breaking the good news to Shah Rukh Khan first. She recalled, “For the first five-six months, there were only lows, because they were retrieving eggs and planting them, and I don’t know how many times I must have gone under general anaesthesia.”

Recalling one instance when SRK stalled the shoot of Om Shanti Om after seeing her crying (following a failed attempt), Farah Khan said, “One day, in the middle of the day, I got a call from the doctor, and she said it’s not happened this time. We were shooting a comic scene, and Shah Rukh Khan knew something was wrong because I was going to cry. So, he called for a break and took me into his van, where I sobbed for one hour.”

Revealing Shah Rukh Khan was the first person – after her mother, to know that she had conceived, Farah said, “I said, ‘I have to tell you something’. He looked at me and said, ‘Are you pregnant?’ We still had to finish Darde-e-Disco, and every time he’d remove his shirt I would throw up. He would keep a bucket next to me. SRK was very sweet, he ordered this lazy boy couch, instead of the director’s chair, so that I could lie down with a mic and shout at people.”

She also recalled SRK dropping in to see her the same day her kids were born. She said, “Shah Rukh came the same day to the hospital and there was a stampede. The patients have come out with their IV drips and Shah Rukh khada hai.” Adding that Khan bought her triplets a fancy pram from Harrod’s, she said, “He came home and he fixed it, but it was so big that it wouldn’t go out of the door.”

During the chat, Farah Khan also revealed that Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan hosted her baby shower. Her kids – Czar, Diva and Anya – were born in 2008.

Farah and SRK have worked together as actor-director in several films, such as Happy New Year, Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om
