Farhan Akhtar reveals how his parents’ separation affected him in childhood

Farhan Akhtar and his wife Adhuna Bhabani recently put an end to their marriage that lasted over a decade. However, unlike many divorces between b-townies that we recently came across, theirs was an extremely graceful and dignified one.

This is probably because Farhan, in his childhood, witnessed his parents moving out of their marriage and going their own ways. Didn’t it affect him?

The actor-director recently opened up about the phase. While he says it did affect him and sister Zoya as they were tender children, he adds that his parents continued to maintain cordial terms. Farhan went on to share how his parents’ divorce had widened his outlook towards relationships. It had taught him that a separation is for good if it makes both sides happy. There’s no point watering a dead relationship that won’t work out again.

At the same time, his father Javed Akhtar emphasised that he and his former wife (Honey Irani), after overcoming the initial bitterness, had become friends and made sure their children had the most normal ambiance as they grew up.

For thoe uninitiated, Farhan shares an extremely hearty relationship with his stepmother Shabana Azmi.
