Fawad Khan was already a big name in the Pakistan film industry when he made his Bollywood debut in 2014. The actor became an instant star on this side of the border as well and got a lot of love. However, his stint here was shot lived because of the Pakistani artist ban in India after political relations soured between the two countries. Now, in a recent interview, the actor opened up about his time in Bollywood and being termed a ‘threat’ to big names here.
Fawad Khan on being a ‘threat’ to big names in Bollywood
As Fawad made an appearance on Excuse Me with Ahmad Ali Butt, he was asked about his stint in Bollywood. He was mentioned that he made a lot of friends here and did a lot of work. But there came a point where he was being compared with the ‘big names’ of Bollywood. Ali Zafar, Mahira Khan and him were getting big offers. So, when asked if it ‘pi** off’ people and made them see him as a ‘threat’, the actor said, “How would I know, man?”
However, he went on to add in Urdu, “That’s such a heavy question. I got a lot of love from India. But look, every industry has its politics. In Pakistan as well. But it’s easier to combat the politics in your industry because it is your own. I’m not saying it (the industry politics) is unheard of, I’m sure it happens everywhere.”
He further said,“But there was one thing, if I talk about threat or no threat – I had PRs, and they used to get angry at this… I was like, ‘I need you to take out my name, not put it in there’. I would ask my PR, ‘You are here just to remove me from places, not put me’. My manager, who is my good friend now, would say, ‘No, You don’t know how the world works’. I said, ‘I don’t want to do Instagram, Facebook, I don’t want to do all these things.’ But she would say ‘That is the norm!'”
Fawad’s stint in Bollywood
Fawad became popular in India when his Pakistani shows Zindagi Gulzar Hai and Humsafar were telecast here. Post that, he made his debut with Sonam Kapoor in Khoobsurat.
